Room Board

€2.50 - €39.00

Sorry, we are currently having some difficulties sourcing components for this popular Board - some variants will go 'out of stock' while we resolve this.  Please recheck around 15th May for an up-to-date status

The Room Board is a small board with sensors for indoor monitoring of several environmental parameters:

  • temperature – via either an SHT11 or a DS18B20
  • humidity – via the same SHT11 sensor
  • motion – via a passive infrared detector (PIR)
  • light – via an LDR

Different configurations are supported –  include/omit the relatively expensive SHT11 or include/omit the motion sensor. The configuration is adjusted by selecting the 1 to 3 resistors to add.

The Room Board is placed over opposite ports on a JeeNode (1+4 or 2+3), like a mini-daughterboard.

This board is not available in pre-assembled form to allow lots of configuration flexibility.

The Room Board Kit contains a PIR motion sensor module, the SHT11 temperature + humidity sensor, an LDR light sensor, and the Room Board PCB.

The Kit No-PIR option has the SHT11, LDR, and PCB, but omits the PIR motion sensor.

The Kit No-SHT option has the PIR, LDR, and PCB, but omits the SHT11 sensor module.

The PIR only option is just the PIR module, in case you want to add it later on.

The SHT only option is just the SHT11 sensor, in case you want to add it later on.

This PCB only version contains just the PCB for the Room Board. No sensors, no parts, no headers.

As connectors you can use a Plug Headers set with 10 male and 10 female 6-pin headers, which makes it easy to connect multiple plugs and JeeNodes in a “standard” way. Or you can solder the board directly in place for more permanent use.

The documentation and full design details are freely available.

Note: the photos include older versions of the PCB and PIR. The v2 PCB shown is the latest layout, and the latest PIR draws <38 µA quiescent current at 3.3V.

Due to supply issues, an HYT131 replaced the SHT11 for a short period until 1Nov2012. Different read out code is needed. See this weblog post for details.
