HardieBacker Backerboard 12mm HardieBacker 500 cement board is ideal for wet area walls such as kitchens, bathrooms and steam rooms. This product is 12mm thick, with a smooth surface that can be tiled, textured or wallpapered. It’s also suitable for creating additional height in flooring or worktop applications. The unique formulation provides a strong bond for all ceramic and natural stone tiles (previously considered too heavy for tile backing board). The board can carry applied weights up to 200kg/m². It’s made using James Hardie’s proprietary cement formulation, is water resistant and has a mesh free construction. This backerboard is ideal for wet areas and incorporates Mouldblock technology. It contains no paper facing that can become mouldy or gypsum that can disintegrate with continuous exposure to moisture. The HardieBacker manufacturing process ensures dimensional stability even when exposed to water for long periods. It’s the lightest cement board available and is easy to cut and install.
