Do you ever think about how your car functions? Do you know which parts are most important? It's essential for a responsible vehicle owner to have basic knowledge on their car’s components to make educated decisions on vehicle maintenance.
From our website you can find all types of components online. We also have headlights, brake controllers and other car components.
Drive with care every day and your car will reward you with longer intervals without repair. Here are a few care tips:
• Do not race your car’s engine during its start-up. This is a quick way to add years of wear to your engine, especially if it’s cold outside.
• Accelerate slowly when you begin your drive. The most wear to the engine and drivetrain occurs in the first 10 to 20 minutes of operation.
• Warming the engine by letting it idle in the driveway is not a great idea. The engine doesn’t operate at its peak temperature, resulting in incomplete fuel combustion, soot deposits on cylinder walls, oil contamination, and ultimately damaged car components.
• Put less strain on your engine and automatic transmission by shifting to neutral at red lights. Otherwise, the engine is still working to push the car even while it’s stopped.
• Avoid driving at high speeds and accelerating quickly, especially when it’s very hot or very cold outside. Such driving behaviour will result in more frequent repairs.
• Extend the life of your tires with careful driving. Observe all posted speed limits. Avoid fast starts, stops, and turns.
• When turning your steering wheel, don’t hold it in an extreme right or left position for more than a few seconds. Doing so can damage the power-steering pump.
• Consolidate your short driving trips. Most of the wear and tear—as well as the pollution your car generates—takes place in the first few minutes of driving. Doing several errands at once, during low traffic hours if possible, will keep your engine happier longer
Whether you prefer manual or automatic gearboxes will come down to personal preference, but there are some clear advantages to driving a manual.
For a start, they’re generally cheaper to buy and better on fuel than automatics.
There are a number of reasons for this – automatic gearboxes are usually heavier than manuals, and traditional torque-converter auto ’boxes would waste energy building the resistance of hydraulic fluid to transfer drive from the engine to the wheels.
Manual gearboxes are generally better for those who like to feel in control, too. If you’re planning an overtake, in a manual you can drop down a gear in advance for a quick reaction when you need the acceleration. In an automatic, there might be slight hesitation when you floor the accelerator. The same applies in poor conditions such as driving across a muddy field or in the snow.
